Internet Explorer 6.0

 

  1. Windows Millennium Edition users:  Do not click on the Connect to the Microsoft Network icon on the desktop. This is to create a dial-up account with that service. To remove this icon and avoid a potential problem, right click on the MSN icon, then select Delete.

  2. Click on Start, then Run. Type inetwiz in the space provided. Click OK.
  3. Choose Connect using my phone line.  Click Next.
  4. In the Telephone Number field, type your local modem access number in the space provided. This number can be found on page 2 of the I-Land User Manual.

    Note: If your town is not listed, please call I-Land Technical Support (660-829-4638) for assistance.  I-Land Internet Services is not responsible for long distance charges due to incorrectly configured Dial-Up Networking connections.

    Remove the check from the box next to Dial using area code and country code.  Click Next 

  5. In the User Name and Password fields, type your user name and password.  User names and passwords are case sensitive!  Click Next.
  6. In the Connection Name field, change the connection name to read I-Land.  Click Next.
  7. In the Set Up Your Internet Mail Account field, choose Yes.  Click Next.
  8. After choosing Next, you may be prompted to choose between creating a new Internet mail account or using an existing account. If you are presented with this choice, choose Create a new Internet mail account.  Click Next.
  9. In the Display Name field, type in what you want everyone else to see in the e-mail From field. Usually your real name.  Click Next.
  10. In the Internet Email Address field, type your e-mail address.  Your e-mail address is your user name followed by "@iland.net" (i.e. support@iland.net).  Click Next.
  11. In the E-mail Server Names field, choose POP3 for My incoming mail server is a ____ server.
  12. Type mail.iland.net in the incoming and outgoing mail server fields.  Click Next.
  13. In the Internet Mail Logon field, enter your user name in the account name field. Type your password in the Password field.  Remember, user names and passwords are case sensitive!  WARNING: Do not select log on using secure password authentication (SPA). If this is selected you will be unable to retrieve your email.  Click Next.
  14. In the Complete Configuration field, click Finish.
  15. Click on Start, move to Settings, then click on Control Panel.
  16. Double click on the Internet Options icon.

  17. Type http://www.iland.net in the Address field.  Click OK. 

  18. Click on File, then on Close.
