Websafe Content Filter

FAQ's

  1. What is Websafe?
The Websafe web filter helps to screen objectionable web sites from ever reaching your computer screen.  Subscribers have a choice of two filtering levels which determine the type of content that is to be filtered.

  2. What kind of software do I have to install or configure?
There is no software to install or configure.

  3. What kinds of web pages does it block?
The home class filter blocks sites with sexually explicit content, sites that promote illegal activities, sites that are aggressive or violent in nature, and gambling sites.  The business class filter adds sites with free Internet e-mail accounts, illegal software distribution and hacking sites, and sites containing streaming audio/video files.

  4. Will it block all objectionable web sites?
Since the Internet already contains several billion web sites, with millions more coming online every day, no filter can ever be 100% accurate.  Websafe is not a replacement for parental guidance and monitoring.

  5. Can I bypass the filter?
Subscribers to Websafe will have a username and password that will allow them to bypass the filter for a period of one hour.  When this override is used, a log will be generated for the subscriber's account noting the date and time of the override.

  6. What if a website makes it through the filter?
There is a form to submit the site for review to be added to the database.
