Websafe Content Filter

I-Land Internet Services announces Websafe, our new Web Content Filtering Solution.  At Websafe's core is a content filtering list supported and maintained by a consortium of public and private institutions, from education institutions to private industry.

Websafe is now offered in two "flavors":  "Home Filtering", and "Business-class Filtering".  Either option can be selected by any Websafe user, whether at home or office.  Business-class Web Filtering provides additional protections geared primarily to business such as restrictions on illegal software sharing sites, hacker sites, and sites generally considered to be employee "time waster sites" (including free email sites, game sites, and audio/video download sites.  Click here for more details about Websafe's filtering levels.

The I-Land Internet Service content filter receives frequent updates as new "restricted sites" are discovered.  So though Websafe, like any filtering service, can not guarantee that all objectionable images, text or services will be blocked, you can rest assured that as they are discovered and added to the "restricted sites list", Websafe will continue to provide valuable assistance for both parents and employers.  Still, Websafe is not a replacement for parental guidance, common sense, or well-defined company Internet access policies.  It is an aide to help block most web sites and services that may be deemed objectionable.

Still, we realize that what may be inappropriate for certain family members may be considered appropriate for others under certain circumstances.  So Websafe provides a password override that gives users the option to turn filtering off while surfing the Internet.  To help our users monitor the use of their computer, Websafe even provides easy access to a database that shows sites that were accessed when Websafe was overridden.

Finally, if you discover a site that you believe should have been filtered, but was not (or for that matter, if you find a site that has been filtered that you believe should not be), Websafe provides a feedback mechanism that allows us at I-Land Internet Services to block or unblock particular sites.
